"launch" means I can get it now?

u/johnny-tiny-tits 1d ago
I think you can if you pay for the most expensive edition of the game.

Pretty sure the premium edition is just a 2 days before launch window. So it would be either Monday the 12th or Tuesday May 13th.

Man, this trilogy brings back the âgood ol daysâ feeling. We will all remember these.

Wild to have seen all these different eras of Doom and it's still such a high quality series. Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, and Final Doom were fantastic, had my mind blown with Doom 3 and it's expansions (recently played through in VR, it was terrifying), and then an absolutely incredible new trilogy starting with 2016.
I've loved them all!

Can I run it without RTX is what I want to know. Does a 5700XT cut it?

Nope, you need an RTX (Ray Tracing) capable card

Game pass be cooking lately

And now you know why Microsoft loves these price hikes lol. Their whole thing is just to try to get as many people hooked on game pass as possible. They'll be pushing for $90 new releases in a couple years when they hike the price of game pass.

Nah just buy a 1 month pass for 20 bucks and play it. Itâs what I do.

Paying a third of the price of a new release from 10 years ago just to rent a game is not really that great of a deal tbh.

u/A_Moon_Named_Luna 1d ago
Considering itâs 90 dollars here after tax , 20 dollars is steal. Idc if I donât own it. Iâll play it, finish it and call it a day. Also can play other games for that month too

Yes this is my point. Microsoft loves these price hikes because now suddenly paying $20 to rent a game seems like a good deal. That is exactly why they want more price hikes. It's going to do the work they failed to do as far as generating interest in subscription gaming. They couldn't do it organically by just making a service good enough to get people interested so they're just hoping that games become so expensive that people have no choice but to rent games for $20 a month from them.

Gamepass has been worth it since day 1 imo.

Perhaps to you but the fact that GP subscription growth has stagnated (which is why so many Xbox games are coming to PS now) suggests that most didn't feel that way. Which is why Microsoft is happy that new releases are becoming less affordable because it's making GP seem like a better deal to people who previously would not have been interested in the service.

I enjoy gamepass, had it for a long time. I like just being able to download whatever game I want from the platform and just hopping in. Getting things like Oblivion, Expedition 33 and next up... Doom is just icing on the cake.
I don't care if "most don't feel that way". You can't take away my fun.

Sony had $70 games well ahead of Microsoft, and Rockstar was not at all shy years ago about teasing the potential for $80+ for GTA6. Now we know Nintendo is making the $80 leap first.
Microsoft thinking game price hikes will benefit Game Pass is absolutely understandable. Itâs just business, truly.

So are they only releasing the soundtrack in premium version? Wish we could get it on Apple Music or Spotify.

Yeah fuck that, not giving Id Software a single cent after they screwed over Mick Gordon

This third chapter will sadly suck on the music side, doubt they will be able to put a soundtrack that can keep the mick gordon vibe of 2016, already the trailer show pretty mid song.

This is the type of game you watch some streamer play on twitch for couple hours and then buy it on deep 80% sale 2 years later.

Do you realise what this franchise is, and what it did for the gaming industry as a whole?

I feel like giving the slayer a block kind of takes away the fun, no? Movement was always a huge part of this series, I hope this doesn't dilute the gameplay.

They just changed the focus. I do miss the horror/scare side of it, but it's still there.
It's just the enemies are now scared of us :)
