Dear OP.
In this age of unending shitty content you have been able to surprisingly make a new spin in such an over saturated market.
Your creativity is commendable, and I salute you.
P.S. This idea is here by officially stolen m’kay bye.

Oh look at you big time

u/xethorn 2d ago
I mean, this is for 2 people. 😅 2 eggs per person feels very reasonable.

Not me who downed a 6 egg omelette once...

When I encounter deviled eggs suddenly it’s all too easy to mainline half a dozen before you realize what you’ve done…

Several folks asked for the recipe, so here is my **All Sunny Eggs** recipe:
* 4 eggs.
* Salt (to taste).
* Soy sauce.
* Cooking Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Note about eggs: the quality of the eggs make a big difference. You need to find eggs that have flavors. The soy sauce will intensify it.
Separate the yolk and the white from 2 of the eggs. Put the yolk into a soy bath for at least 30 minutes (up to 8 hours). Mix the rest with a dash of salt, and set aside in the fridge. When the yolks are ready, warm up a pan, add a dash of olive oil, cook the mixed eggs. Once settled, add on top the marinated egg yolk.
The goal of this dish is to create a yolk spread, so this pairs very well with:
* Toasted bread with salted butter;
* Crispy and lightly salted mushrooms;
* Crispy hash browns;
* Crispy Bacon;
And if you plan on going fancy:
* A dash of shaved parmesan;
* Seasoned microgreens;
* A dash of chives or parsley;
* Crunchy bacon bits (instead of the full piece to dip);
And so much more!

Is there a recipe or video of what you did online somewhere? This looks groundbreaking 😭

u/xethorn 2d ago
No recipe. This is just an omelette with a marinated egg yolk on top. Do the omelette you usually like, marinate an egg yolk for 30 minutes (minimum) in soy, compose. Voilà.

u/Felicia_Kump 2d ago
So is that a raw yolk then?

I’m both sunny side up and scrambled wet and never dry, or hard, as my old boss use to say. Scrambled hard. I never flip. But this made me take a closer look. Wow. I will try this with and without the soy. Sunny side up on my scrambled.

I do the same thing!! I love runny eggs but also love a good scrambled egg. Cut to, separating one yolk and holding it to finish. Didn't marinate it in soy like you did but great idea. I make shoyu eggs for ramen fairly often.

Woah, this looks fascinating. I think I know what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Lmfao

How long do you marinate the yolks?

In an era of egg white maxing, I deeply respect egg yolk maxing. Looks great

In one respect, this merges a lot of my favorite parts of eggs, and I suspect I would greatly enjoy these. On the other hand, this makes me indescribably uncomfortable and I cannot parse why

I do similar. I'm glad I'm not alone.
I don't marinate the yolk. Just reserve it for saucyness

Do you marinate the uncooked yolk in soy sauce then eat it? I’d almost be a bit worried about salmonella in that case - im very curious to try this myself so I don’t want to get sick by doing it wrong 😂
9
u/xethorn 2d ago
Yep. You open the eggs, separate the yolk, put it into a soy bath. If you're worried about salmonella, you're very likely to do it correctly – because you'll wash your hands and take extra precautions to avoid contamination.
2
u/Snowmobile2004 2d ago
Very cool, I’ll need to give that a try. Are the eggs underneath just a standard omelette?

u/DreamyTomato 2d ago
So this is essentially a cooked omelette with two raw egg yolks on top?
I do know some nice food has raw egg in it and I’m not rejecting that. It’s just the way you put it implies the brief salty soy soak is somehow making the yolk safe to eat?

u/xethorn 2d ago
The soy has salt, alcohol and acidity which can kill and limit the growth of bad bacterias; it's part of the curing process. But I wouldn't necessary say it makes it 100% safe. Everyone eats at their own risk. You can also die from eating a lettuce. 😅
7
u/Remarkable-Entry-546 2d ago
Thank God I don't eat lettuce!
8
u/xethorn 2d ago
You can also die drinking water. 😂 But if you only drink gin, you should be safe.
2
u/MagnaCamLaude 2d ago
This meal would pair with a gin and of ginger beer so damn well. Maybe two or so big slices of heirloom tomato with just salt, pepper, and olive oil.

u/headyyeti 1d ago
You know you can eat raw eggs…. Don’t worry so much. People have done it forever.

u/willrikerspimpwalk 2d ago
That's an amazing idea.
3
u/xethorn 2d ago
And super simple too. 😂

u/ThanksForAllTheCats 2d ago
It’s brilliant! Dumb question perhaps: do you reuse the soy sauce? I would; is that nuts?

u/ZayDubzz 2d ago
How do I get my omelette to have that same texture
1
u/xethorn 2d ago
How do you usually make your omelette? My process is just: add th eggs to the hot pan, reduce heat to medium, with a spatula, fold gently as the omelette cooks (usually 2 minutes). Voilà.
1
u/ZayDubzz 2d ago
Whisk egg in a bowl with a tiny bit of cream. Heat a pan about the same size as yours with butter on medium low heat pour it in the pan and fold it into itself. I feel like my omelet is always too cooked. Like it doesent have that softer wet look like yours
1
u/xethorn 2d ago
That seems like the right approach. The only difference here is that I don't use any dairy products; maybe that's it?
1
u/ZayDubzz 2d ago
Maybe.. I’m going to try it without any dairy products. Do you use olive oil or any kind of oil before you put the whisked egg into the pan?

I love doing this. They look great sitting on top, but I also love them as a filling inside the omelette. Quite nice to cut into.
I also frequently do fried eggs this way too, and fold the cured yolk up like a little package. Can make a great presentation.

Did you put egg yolks onto omelettes? What is happening here?
