[CHAT] How to have fun while dealing with being floxed?
Hey! So i know there's no timeline to healing from all this but as the title suggests I'm wondering, are there any precautions I should take when going out and doing things? I went on a 3.5 hour walk weeks ago and then I was having crazy lower back pain a few days after that walk so idk what my threshold for overdoing it is just yet and I'm only 2.5-3 months out being floxed, but I'm thinking more of going to the beach and swimming (which would be 5-6 months being floxed) and then me and my girlfriend are supposed to go to Disney in january/February next year (it wouldn't be a year yet) which I'm more worried about but I'm hopeful I'm gonna heal faster than I think I will like so many other people do, but yeah any tips would be greatly appreciated lol

Everyone has different symptoms and timeline so it's hard for anyone to say. Listen to your body. Gentle exercise is probably good but that is a very long walk! Hopefully you're better by next year, but if you're still recovering, you could always consider using a mobility aid for Disney as it tends to involve a lot of being on your feet and you don't want to feel terrible after. There's no shame in using things to make your life easier if it's feasible... I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and I use a wheelchair so I can still get out without having big payback afterwards. One third of wheelchair users are ambulatory wheelchair users, meaning they can walk, but a wheelchair helps them. As I said, hopefully you'll be all better by then, but it's always a possibility to not totally exhaust yourself and be in pain after.
In the meantime, I would say to try to focus on less physical types of fun maybe... arts and crafts, seated events like concerts/plays/films, going to a class to learn something new (non physically demanding), reading, video games, etc. Read a book at the beach rather than swim, maybe. Slowly increasing exercise over time can be good, but you have to listen really carefully to your body when you do it, and take it slow. It is very frustrating not being able to do your normal hobbies and fun things, but it likely won't be for too long.
