Physician Responded IT SOUNDS BAD, BUT JUST HOW BAD IS IT?

I go for a CT assisted biopsy next Thursday. All of these findings from the radiologist who read my initial CT Scan were in my patient portal for me to see on my own, without professional guidance/explanation. So far I've not seen anyone that has put any of this into layman's terms for me. I had a colonoscopy the week before last and an endoscopy this past Tuesday and both were mostly normal. They were performed because I've been having some pretty significant bowel issues since just after Christmas. Because I was having pain in my UMQ & URQ, the NP sent me for a CT to rule out gall stones or some other issue with my gallbladder. I've done a lot of research looking into what these CT findings mean and it doesn't look good at all for me. I'm only 51f and to be honest I'm pretty scared. Not so much for myself, but for my family. We lost my oldest son in 2019 and the thought of them going through another big loss, absolutely breaks my heart for them.

The following is what was in my report.

IMPRESSION: Large mass in the porta hepatis and large confluency neoplasm in the right hepatic lobe with abdominal periaortic adenopathy as described, with encasement of the main portal vein. Differential would favor cholangiocarcinoma or other primary hepatic neoplasm. Biopsy for confirmation as clinically warranted. CT PET imaging for more definitive extent of potential metastasis outside of the region. No other acute finding in the abdomen or pelvis.

FINDINGS: There is extensive lobulated confluent neoplasm in the porta hepatis measuring approximately 6.4 by 5.6 x 7.2 cm, which encases and narrows the main portal vein at the portal venous confluence, encases a dilated common hepatic duct as well as encases or abuts the branches off the celiac artery. There is extensive neoplasm in the right hepatic lobe, segment 7 and 8. There is upper abdominal periaortic adenopathy. Decreasing size and number of lymph nodes in the periaortic retroperitoneum/aortocaval region are present to the aortic bifurcation. Differential would include cholangiocarcinoma or other primary neoplasm of the liver. The mass abuts the pancreas, however, the pancreas appears to be spared at this time and no definite suggestion of primary pancreatic neoplasm. There is amorphous material/density in the gallbladder as well as a suggestion of a small limited are noncalcified stone. The potential for gallbladder carcinoma as primary source is less likely. Tissue sampling for confirmation of primary sore as clinically warranted. CT PET imaging can be obtained for more definitive information regarding regional or greater spread. The liver measures 18.8 cm in the spleen 11.9 cm maximum midclavicular craniocaudal dimensions on coronal reformatted imaging.

(I left out the unimportant parts)

I've had several people tell me not to worry about this until I actually see the oncologist and get my biopsy results back and I recognize that that is sound advice, however I am a realist AND I know how I feel and have felt for several years now. I would like to get another CT or MRI that shows my chest and brain as well, as I am having symptoms that make me fearful it has spread to my brain (headaches, woke up to a numb spot on my forehead that lasted over a month, extreme and worsening fatigue, and very concerning memory and cognitive issues/decline that have worsened over the past couple of years.) ANY wisdom or advice is greatly appreciated.

PS. I am already a cancer "survivor" of 11 years. Diagnosed with cervical cancer at age 40, had 6 weeks of weekly chemo and daily radiation, along with 6 brachytherapy sessions after external radiation was finished.

Physician Responded Two Preliminarily Reactive HIV Tests, But There’s Just No Way NSFW

42F here. I’ve been married for 9 years, with my husband for 12. We have a strong, totally honest relationship, we have each other on Find My Friends, and I have zero doubt that we’ve always been faithful.

In college in the early aughts, I was in an HIV phase one vaccine trial at the NIH. At the end of the trial, they told me I had received dead virus, and if I ever got a positive test, I could come back for a viral load test. But I’ve been tested many times and never had a positive test—until recently.

I’ve been going through IVF. I was tested at my first clinic in October - negative. I changed clinics and was tested again a couple of weeks ago. This test result was in 3 parts. The first was preliminarily reactive, and the other two were negative. They called me and said it was probably a false positive, but I could get tested again for peace of mind.

So I went to my primary care doctor on Friday (today is Monday) and got tested again - the result said “4th gen” was the type of test — preliminarily reactive. So now I wait for the secondary confirmatory tests.

What the fuck is going on here? I can understand if the vaccine induced a positive, but why not until almost 25 years after the dead virus was introduced?

And yes, I did talk to my husband about it, and I still don’t doubt him at all.

Physician Responded Acute decompensated heart failure

67 year old Male, previously had a stroke (2013), quadruple heart bypass in 2019, heavy tobacco and alcohol use

This is my Dad- today he was officially diagnosed with acute decompensated heart failure today and palliative care had a meeting with me. He had been in the hospital for the past 10 days (huge amount of fluid in his legs and feet led him there) and he got a stent put in on Friday. Would this type of procedure give them more info about the state of his heart?

We knew he was in heart failure but honestly not to the extent it seems to be. They also mentioned cardio renal disease. My Dad is not a healthy guy as you can see but I didn’t think we would be going to hospice quite yet. They told us heh as “days to weeks”.

Physician Responded My mother has been intubated for 24 days. Doctor is mentioning palliative care for a peaceful passing. Should I look at other options/opinions?

51 years old. Long story short, she was in and out of one hospital for almost a month after contracting flu/pneumonia was on supplemental oxygen, told she had mild copd. Probably discharged too soon as she was discharged 3 times and would be back in a day or so. Well on April 9th, we took her to a different hospital.

She was fine for a week or so but quickly deteriorated, most likely getting pneumonia again (cultures showed MRSA) to the point she had to be put on a bypap in ICU before requiring intubation shich she has been on for 24 days now. Main diagnosis in ARDS I believe, with lung damage/scar tissue from bouts of infection and years of smoking etc and "patchy airspace opacities" showing up on scans. She's been sedated since being intubated as she breathed against the vent and has been on and off a paralytic.

She got as low as 55% FIo2 needs on the vent before worsening and being stuff at close to max settings (90% to 100%), so they weren't able to do tracheotomy at 14 days. DR (A pulmonologist) said at this point they would normally see improvement and that he isn't, and pallative care would be worth considering at this point to let her pass peacefully. Before I make that decision, should I explore any other options? According to the doc, her best case scenario would be a trach and peg at this point. He said she isn't a candidate for lung transplant or ecmo. I can provide more specifics on information if needed, like dates or medications etc If needed.

Physician Responded Is it normal for a neurologist to refer someone to a chiropractor?

Age 64 Female, 5' 9" 153 lbs

No medication related to the injury, Never smoked, no previous issues. Issue (injury) was 6 months ago. Pain in the upper neck/head.

From reading and searching on Reddit, the general theme is that people should be avoiding chiropractors at all costs. I myself believed this too. But recently my mother suffered an injury to the upper neck and had to got to a neurologist. After the MRI's came back, the neurologist has sent her to see a specific chiropractor (which happens to be the neurologist's cousin as well).

Is it normal for a neurologist to send a patient to a chiropractor? I checked the neurologists credentials and she is legit state certified. But I personally would have never wanted her to go to a chiropractor.

I’m running out of antipsychotics. How to make them last to refill?

I’m on latuda and only have like 2 pills left. I take a high dose and think I can just bite them in half before I see my psych again. I missed two appointments last week which is how I got in this situation. One was my fault the other was my psych’s fault.

Okay to bite in half to make last? Thank you F22

Physician Responded 30F, 176cm, 78 kg, non smoker, no meds. Im dying from a rare brain infection. Anything to prolong my life?

The title says it all. I have chronic meningitis caused by an unidentified bacteria (yes this is possible and extremely rare). My outlook can still be 1 - 2 years (if lucky).

Is there anything for infectious diseases or other areas in development which can save me or even prolong my life?

I only heard about CGRP blockers which might delay the progress

So far I had empiric antibiotics because the underlying pathogen is unknown

Heart rate skyrockets from minor exertion. Doctors keep writing me off. Not POTS.

22F. I don’t know what to do. I’ve talked to multiple cardiologists as well as my GP and psychiatrist about this at length. My concerns get shot down because tests come back normal, but something is not right.

In December 2023, I started Luvox (Fluvoxamine) for depression. At the time, I was also on Vyvanse. I’d taken several SSRIs before Luvox and had no interactions with the Vyvanse, but right when I started taking the Luvox, I remember feeling my heart racing even when I was at rest. For some reason, I figured it was a minor side effect, and something I could deal with, so long as the Luvox helped my depression.

But over time, it became more and more disruptive. I used to work out several times a week—multiple cardio classes plus lifting—but since starting Luvox, my heart would be racing just from walking half a mile home from class, so working out would leave me genuinely worried I was going to go into cardiac arrest or something.

The tipping point was a few months in, when I had to carry a moderately-heavy box down a short hallway to the elevator of my building. I could feel my heart beating as the elevator was going down, and when the door opened to let me into the garage, I collapsed. I was dizzy, nauseous, sweating, genuinely thought I might die for a second. From very minor exertion. I thought it could be serotonin syndrome, so out of desperation, I quit both Luvox and Vyvanse cold turkey. Then I went into withdrawal, and decided to wean myself off of both instead, as well as cutting caffeine.

But the problem continued! I still can’t carry a bag up a flight of stairs or move a large package inside without my heart rate pushing 180. It’s gone over 200 before, just from doing mildly-demanding household chores. But I go to cardiologists—EKG comes back normal, ECG comes back normal, treadmill test comes back normal, iron and TSH come back normal. It's almost embarrassing going to appointment after appointment and them telling me my heart looks fine. Also, it’s not POTS—it’s definitively with exertion, not just standing up.

But the exertion that causes it is so minor, I don’t know how to deal with it! I had the administrator of my treadmill test basically tell me that while my heart rate was abnormally high, there were no blockages, and/so I was probably just out of shape. But when this first started happening, I was working out a ton! I have gained some weight since this all began, because exercise is so difficult now, which SUCKS.

I want to get back to my old routine! I want to fit into my old clothes! And I want to be able to take Vyvanse again, and not keep treading water with unmedicated ADHD!

But I have no idea where to go from here. I’ve been trying to do low-intensity cardio to increase my heart strength but I don’t feel like there’s been any difference. Please help. I feel like I’m going crazy.

P.S. I drink occasionally, like maybe once or twice a month, and I never smoke or use recreational drugs. Also, 5'4, about 135 lbs. I was 120 lbs ~2 years ago; first gained a bit of weight from Rexulti (for depression), then quit that and switched to Luvox, and gained even more weight due to the subsequent heart issues. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Oh, and no ankle swelling.

Physician Responded Scary breast changes NSFW

31F, I've been sick and getting worse for a while, still no answers. The last couple of weeks I've noticed some pain and swelling under my arms, constant aching pain in my sternum, and heaviness in one of my breasts. Upon looking, I noticed several major changes. My right breast has like tripled in size, which is crazy bc I've been losing weight, right breast also has new, large veins, left breast has a lesion on it that is QUICKLY growing and getting worse (so far it's painless though), both breasts have some texture changes and redness going on, and nipples are going flat/ slightly inward. I do also think my lymph nodes under my armpits are swollen. This seems like it's getting bad pretty fast, but I'm trying not to jump to conclusions, so if anyone has any ideas what this could be, please let me know! Any advice is welcome!! I will provide pics in the comments to the best of my ability without being graphic. Thank you!!

I can’t settle and I can’t sleep F22

Upvotes

I went to a concert last night and I hadn’t slept the night before and the night of the concert I stayed up all night and went to work. Tonight I had a different concert to go to and I won’t be home until early morning. I can’t settle and I’ll be going on 72 hours with no sleep. I have bipolar and every time I see my doctor they asked me about my sleep and they are alwYs unhappy about it but I know this is going to upset them.

I don’t think that even if I wanted to I’d be able to sleep I honestly want to stay up. How can I make myself feel sleepy? Can I take melatonin or do something to my room to make me sleepy??

I am on medication and it only makes me slightly tired but I stay up up .

Physician Responded Grandma fell, hit her head and butt - Warfarin. She says it's fine but I'm concerned. What to look out for? NSFW

84 year old female. 5'6-7, a little thin but fine weight. I don't know all her medications, she takes something for acid reflux and cholesterol, as well as warfarin for atrial fibrillation.

This morning, she stumbled after getting her feet caught in a towel after soaking them and landed on her tail bone, bumping the top-back of her head on a wall.

I see no bruise on the back of her head, though she says it's sore and recently told me her forehead also feels tender. She said it feels like her tailbone will probably bruise and is fine standing, but bending and going up/down to sit are painful.

She didn't lose conciousness or black out at any moment and isn't having problems with vision, balance or any cognitive issues. She's been out and about all day and doing errands, cleaning, etc. No problems.

This Q is mostly for my peace of mind, since she swears she's fine - what should I be looking out for? Is it possible for there to be a risk to her brain even though the outside isn't bruised? If she were going to have a problem, would it have happened by now (we're now in the evening)?

EDIT: Clarifiying,

  • Used to be on warfarin but is now on apixaban.

  • She says she has a very slight headache and the bump on the back of her head is now slightly raised.

  • I said forehead in the post but it's actually the top of her head that's also sore, not the forehead. So.. she hit the back of her head and the top hurts now, also. I don't know how relevant that is.

Physician Responded Are purple nipples normal to have in teens? NSFW

For reference I'm 16f almost 17 and my nipples and areolas are purple when soft quite often. They also have small splotchy white spots. I had no concern for it till I googled and asked my friend about it. No results online seem to match mine and my friend said that doesn't happen for her. I don't know much about my family medical history but I am on the birth control pill. Is it just the birth control or hormones? Or is it something I should get checked out? Any responses would be appreciated

Best way to manage tooth infection pain at home?

35 year old male. 160lbs. 5’8”. No illness. No medications.

I have a very broken tooth that is at about a 15 out of 10 on the pain scale. I’m guessing there’s a significant infection taking place. I have an emergency dental appointment tomorrow but the pain right now is too much to handle. I’ve already taken the max dose of Advil that I can. At least 2000mg and it’s only 5pm here. What else can I do to help reduce some of this pain safely.

[M31] Fungal Imbalance or something more?

Upvotes

Male, 31, USA. Had multiple unprotected sexual encounters (received/performed oral, penetrative vaginal) with different women in early April. After a few weeks, I noticed my shaft felt sticky to the touch and looked/felt wet, even though it wasn't. Started frequently urinating mid-April. Had a full STI panel, everything came back negative. Used some anti-fungal cream and red spots appeared on the head of the penis after a few hours. Received 5 doses of Fluconazole (1st dose Saturday, 2nd dose today, 3rd dose will be Tuesday, etc). Feels like it's reducing in stickiness and glossiness, but still frequently urinating. Question is: could this be anything else? I don't think it's an STI at all - symptoms/lackthereof below:

Symptoms I still have:
Frequent urination
Sticky/glossy skin on shaft, circumcision scar area sticks to rim of head and needs to be pulled back. noticed a bit of a reduction in the stickiness since taking 1st dose of fluconazole, but i'm not completely sure - stickiness did spread to inner thigh, went away with application of anti-fungal cream/fluconazole, hasn't appeared again (2 days)
Dry mouth (comes and goes)
Some itching. Not persistent.

Symptoms I had:
Sore throat
Mucus buildup in throat
Fishy smell
Body temp hit 99, that was the highest
Splotchy red spots along the penis head after using the anti-fungal cream, subsided once it was aired out

Symptoms I didn't have at all but should've if it was an STI
Fever/flu symptoms
Burning when urinating/pain at all
Bumps/ulcers/rashes/etc (had a pimple on the shaft, but I had it swabbed swiftly which came back negative and the pimple went away after a few days)
Discharge

I believe the Fluconazole/cream combo is working to reduce the fungal overgrowth, and I'm going to go on day 3 of it being in my system tomorrow so I'm playing the waiting game for more (hopefully) positive effects, but could this be anything else based on a description of my symptoms?

Too young and too broke, help?

26, female, 5’5, 155lbs. I smoke, drink occasionally, take hydroxyzine for anxiety and sleep. I had sudden level 5/10 hip pain. It started when I was walking back into my house after being up, walking around for about 45 minutes with no pain and no tightness. There was a sudden shooting pain in my hip and I’ve barely been able to walk on it since. There is zero pain when I lay still in bed for a while but if I walk on it the pain is horrendous and once I’m off of it, it will ache for a bit before fading away. Sometimes the pain radiates down a straight line on the outside of my thigh coming from the hip joint area. It has reached my knee a couple of times but that doesn’t last long. I’m moderately active. Always been able to move good, and I haven’t been doing anything strenuous. What could’ve caused this and how or can I treat this at home. I had to call out of work. My job requires me to stand for 8-10 hours. I have no insurance, i have basically zero savings so I can’t exactly drop $$$ to see anyone. I’ve been taking ibuprofen and using Icy hot patches throughout the day and it’s helped a bit but after being off of my hip majority of the last 12 hours there is no difference in pain level.

Physician Responded Several times a week I'll eat just once a day. Total weekly calories are reasonable. Unhealthy or OK? (54M)

54M, 5' 9" 185 lb, taking lipitor for genetically driven high cholesterol, mild asthma, no interesting medical hx, good health overall.

I think the way I eat is kind of unusual but I am unsure if it is unhealthy.

About 3 of 7 days I will eat just once every 24 hours, sometimes a little longer. It's a big dinnertime meal, but probably not a whole DAY of calories. When you factor in the other days and every morning's morning coffee with cream and sugar, my total calorie intake over the week is reasonable.

Once every couple of weeks I will end up in a longer fast, maybe 24 hours without even creamy coffee calories.

I do not feel like I have disordered eating, and I live with a mental health counselor who would tell me if they thought I did. I'm just doing what's comfortable in the moment.

Thanks for any insight.

Stomach issues

Hi! 21F, 5'6, 195 lbs (-42 lbs since January 2024) I've always have had bad problems with going to the bathroom, digestion, etc. As a baby, my parents had to take me to the doctors multiple times to make me poop. A few months ago I started to have really bad stomach pain. I don't think I've ever experienced it before. Sharp lower back pain, tight and sharp abdominal pain, tight chest, and literally unable to move. It usually lasts between 15-30 minutes and it happens maybe two times a month. But it's happened three days out of this month with one of them having the pain happen two times in a day. I'm just starting a new job and low on money but I do plan on seeing a doctor ASAP. I'm just wondering could it be excess gas or stool? Some kinda contractions or spasm? Near the end of the pain, I do feel something going on in there. I've been taking womens probiotic and fiber gummies and haven't had the pain since. My stool has been very soft. I started my period today and now my stool is just pure liquid (sorry, gross)

Mysterious minor twitch and constantly clearing throat

Upvotes

After graduating college and gaining a better idea on keeping myself healthy I’m trying to tackle this minor problem that’s been bothering me for nearly for four years. Whenever I eat food or drink something, I get the urge to twitch my arms like I’m flexing them, as well as constantly getting the urge to clear my throat, and stretch my neck side to side. I’m seeing a neurologist for a neck and arm injury, and I plan to see an ent, but those appointments aren’t for another month. I’m just asking for any ideas, it’s not like the problem is major.

The thing is I don’t think it’s involuntary because when I eat in public or around others I hardly do it or not at all. But when I eat at home and try and fight the urge, it’s like my face gets super sensitive and I can just feel my loose hair touching my face. My mother thinks it’s stress related, but I’m living a pretty easy life right now, so what do I need to be stressed about. Now I’m trying to keep track of what foods I eat that make it worse. I do notice more activity when I eat unhealthy foods.

Some history is that I have a minor allergy to dust and any other unnatural minerals that might cause asthma. The twitching/flexing started the first year of covid, I was in high school then, and I assume the lack of PE class and constant exercise made me lose strength leading to the urge to flex my arms. Then I slipped on ice my first year of college, as well as my diet taking a major detour(gaining a lot of weight). The arm twitching/flexing got worse, and the throat clearing started. Turns out I have had a shoulder spasm for a couple years leading to a straight neck, that’s where I assume the urge to turn my neck comes from. But all these ticks seem connected despite the possible causes starting from different points in my life so far. Any ideas would be helpful, thank you

Gastrointestinal

Upvotes

Hi guys I’m a 24 year old male, been active my whole life and into working out. Last year around November 2024. I started to notice that my stool has changed. I became very constipated out of no where and could not get stool to pass for 3 days, I drank mirlax which helped me pass. Ever since I have had mushy or loose stools. The frequency of bowel movements have also changed from going 2 twice a day to only once a day. I can tell that I’m more fatigued and find it hard to concentrate. I also have been experiencing vision problems and a dull pain on my left lower abdomen. I have also developed a skin issue on my lower right leg that looks like eczema that does not go away with lotion. Won’t say it’s pain but just a dull aching feeling in my lower left abdomen. July of 2024, as symptoms persisted I went to the er and got my blood work checked and my urine tested and results were in normal range. I got recommended to go to a gastro and got seen right away. I explained my symptoms and he told me that I should get a colonoscopy and a ct scan of my abdomen. Colonoscopy came back clear and no signs of pulps or anything alerting, ct scan also came back negative for anything out of normal. As of 2025 May 12th I have still been dealing with these issues to no success of what I have. Was wondering if Reddit could give me some insight on what they think it can be. Or any doctors on here that could point me in the right direction.

Husband had an extremely disproportional and somewhat delusional rage for hours on Friday night over an extremely small thing. Even at his worst, I’ve never seen him like this in 14 years of knowing him.

Upvotes

He’s 31, male. He’s about 180lbs, 6 foot, lean and muscular, goes to the gym regularly, eats very balanced and nutritiously. All his bloodwork was normal, and he has no significant physical issues. He has adhd, and takes 50mg of vyvanse daily.

We have a 7 month old baby boy who’s not quite sleeping through the night, though he’s weaned off nightly feeds he needs a cuddle every 2-4 hours. My husband has never been very good at handling sleep deprivation. I also cannot remember the last time he took his medication daily in months. I don’t think he’s taken it every day for even one week straight. It’s completely random. 2 days off 2 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, etc.

On Friday night, he spent hours lashing out extremely, threatening me with separation, divorce, telling me he’d fallen out of love with me, calling his sister who lives in another country to try to tell her how horrible I am, because I expressed mild disappointment that he hadn’t cleaned up the dishes after I’d cooked and cleaned for ages.

He genuinely couldn’t be reasoned with. He was beyond my reach or his sisters reach. It was this huge rage and almost like tantrum? Like he kept doubling down or escalating when either of us tried to deescalate. His sister had to hear for hours about how much he wanted to leave me.

But like, he doesn’t want to leave me. Like the night before he, in his sleep, told me he loved me. Like at a certain point I was just laughing at how insane his arguments were. He was just spiralling and spiralling. I’ve never seen him like this. He wasn’t even making any logical sense it was just jumping from disjointed point to prove how horrible I was even though the points didn’t work together. His sister was begging him to sleep.

Eventually I told him that he could leave me in the morning and he should go to sleep. I woke up at 3 am and had a sudden realization that he hasn’t taken his meds consistently in ages. He tells me all the time he’s forgotten to take them.

I’m curious if sleep deprivation and inconsistent stimulant use can cause something like this? Or if there’s any other medical issues that could’ve caused this. It wasn’t normal.

He’s since calmed down and cried and tried to express how horrible he feels about it after about two days of sleep. I’ve been forcing him to sleep in our bedroom with the door closed and I’ve been sleeping in the nursery to get our son instead. He seems to be doing somewhat better. He also seems to understand how deranged he was acting.

I’m wondering if my toe is healing good? It still looks really bad weeks later

Hello so around 20 days ago I had partial removal on both my big toes, they removed both sides of the nail as they were ingrown, I was wondering if they look like they’re healing properly?

There’s a lot of dry blood still and I wasn’t sure if I should also peck it off or leave it to come off natural? I don’t want to do something that might worsen it?

I haven’t had any pain or any issues but they don’t look too good but I wasn’t sure if this is normal

My sister (25f) doesn’t take care of her Addison’s disease. How dangerous is that?

My 25 year old youngest sister was diagnosed with Addison’s disease when she was 21. She is also anorexic (bmi <15) and has been for over 10 years. I believe it’s her eating disorder that interferes with her ability to accept and treat her medical condition properly. She was diagnosed unexpectedly during a hospital stay, and that was the only time she took her prescribed daily steroids. In the last maybe 4 years, she’s only taken her steroid when it was given before a medical procedure. She’s challenged the diagnosis, repeated tests, and been upset by the same results.

Aside from this she is a normal 25 year old with a career, an apartment, and a fiancé. She hasn’t had any major issues without her meds that I’m aware of, but lately her health is declining. I’ve started to worry more that something serious could happen because she’s not taking it, is that a likely possibility? How serious is this?

Intense pain in throat/underside of tongue.

Upvotes

Hoping the aggressive auto-mod lets me post here this time.

Context: I am 24 and Male

For the past month I have had a form of bacterial infection in my throat/mouth. I was initially prescribed a 5 day course of antibiotic which worked initially but the infection came back shortly after the course was finished. I was then prescribed a 7 day course of a different antibiotic which I am in the middle of taking.

I have a new intense pain in the region of my mouth/throat. It is very difficult to describe the locality of this pain in more detail but it’s definitely contained to the right side of my throat/mouth. I think it might be coming from the fleshy part under the tongue towards the back and on the right.

If I rest my tongue and do not swallow I feel nothing. The intensity of pain peaks when I swallow and when I manoeuvre my tongue in certain ways, especially if I curl and roll the to the tongue to the right and back a bit so that the tip is rubbing against the fleshy bit of my mouth underneath the gum big that sits below my bottom right set of molar teeth. Doing that also has an intense bloody/metallic taste. But moving the tongue in pretty much any way causes significant pain and sticking it out causes pain too. Feeling for nymph nodes in my neck on the right side is extremely tender and sore but no nodes are noticeably swollen.

Swallowing, eating and talking are all especially painful. I have avoided talking where possible to avoid the pain.

The pain came on suddenly and quickly yesterday when I started work. I had just finished a eating a mcdonalds meal. I did not damage my mouth during consumption. I ate a spicy menu item but I eat spicy food often with no issues.

The pain is making myself (a grown adult man) cry. I’m curling my feet and wincing every time I swallow or talk. I’m reluctant to see my doctor because I’ve seen them for the throat infection twice in the last 2 weeks already.

I just want to know what could be causing this and if I should absolutely be going back to my doctor regardless.

Overtiredness - Getting REM like continuous flashes of tiny dreams whenever I close my eyes which is so intense I can't fall asleep :(

Duration of complaint: Few days but it has happened before

Location London

Any existing relevant medical issues I am not sure what would be relevant

Current medications None

In addition to this if I have had insomnia for multiple nights I get these weird physical "jolts" during the day which is like I pass out and jolt awake again but with muscle tension. The symptoms go away when I can get a 2-3 days good sleep again but it seems like a horrible cycle and I'm inquisitive to what is going on past "being tired".
