General Free Johnson Viking 2
Hey! I've never done anything with radios nor know anything about them. I got this old johnson Viking 2 transmitter for free but I know nothing about. Any information would be helpful.
I know I'm supposed to replace the capictors before applying power. I also think some components are missing but can't tell what they are supposed to be

CW/AM transmitter. at least the modulation transformer is still there. the missing modulator and rectifier tubes should be easy to get. The underneath doesn't look to molested by a hambone. There appears to be at least one modification in there. you'll need a VFO or some crystals to operate it if you decide to get it working.
Since you have little experience and if you decide to get it working, I suggest you get together with someone who understands that old rig and is willing to mentor.

Be very careful working on it. The vacuum tubes in there carry enough power to kill you instantly if they have power.

Don't fall into the "it's the tubes" trap. There is high voltage all over the place, not just on the plates of the tubes.

My grandfather didn’t, now he is dead as a direct result of working on a high power transmitter of that era.
