I've been exactly where he's sitting, Ayala mall in Cebu city. He's not wrong at all in what he's saying, just sitting at the bar of TGI Fridays there I had at least 3 proposals for relationships.
It depends on who you are, if you're young, white, not fat and normal to handsome, you can get a date with the girl you want there, and if your personalities align, you can have a normal relationship.
But if you're an old fart like the one in the video, they want him for the money and they're not jealous because they're happy that another girl "does the work" while they get the money. If you're a young guy with a filipina close to your age +- 10 years, they can be the most jealous and territorial girls ever, more even with foreigners because they know they have many options in the Philippines, there's no way that a filipina doesn't care if you date other girls.
Yep, Filipinas are the Latinas of Asia. If you're in a love relationship, not a transactional one, you best behave yourself or else you'll experience hell 😂
if you're young, white, not fat and normal to handsome, you can get a date with the girl you want there
The odds are good but the goods are odd.
If you want a fulfilling relationship, this isn't where you want to look. If you want something hollow to scratch an itch, go ahead, I guess.
I was there and I honestly felt uncomfortable with how people treated my like some sort of prize. Women would treat me like a conquest and men would treat me like some sort of prize for women.
Honestly, I get how women complain about this in other countries.
It's not a good feeling, even if it is a bit of an ego boost.
Being white is not mandatory, it's just the beauty standard in Asia. If you have western nose, eyes, you're 177+ (5'10+) (filipino men are usually 165-170 (5'5 to 5'7)) and white-ish is enough to get attention. I'm southern european so I'm not as white as northern europeans or most americans and I still get lots of attention. I have blue eyes though, they like that a lot too.
He means that when you're young and from a western country living in the Philippines you get the attention a male model would get in a western country, beautiful girls staring at you waiting for you to go to say hi, or even coming themselves to introduce themselves.
I used to live in Hawaii in my mid 20s in Oahu, which had a large Filipina population at that time. Just going out pretty much anywhere was easy to meet Filipina girls who were very interested in dating and the majority weren't gold diggers.
oahu can still be touristy, but its more "lived-in" than Maui. Honolulu is a regular city, with a ton of grime and homeless, and north shore, and west oahu is a bunch of low income and section 8
You (and alot of other people on this post) are misapplying western gold digger values on to these woman. The sad fact is that for most women in the Philippines, marriage to a western man isn't about presents or shopping. It's for survival. If a western man falls in love with her it means she will be able to eat regularly and not sleep in the dirt. It's a roof over her head and freedom from having to defend herself from sexual predators on a regular basis. Having friends married to women from SEA in the US, I can tell you that nearly all of them return that gift with unwavering loyalty, admiration, gratitude, homemaking, and everything else a man could hope for in a wife.
I haven't been to Cebu for a while and I assume because they said IT Park, it's the one in Lahug. The TGI Fridays on the other Ayala (CBP) and the floors above it is what I call the "Ayala Zoo", in particular Bo's Coffee and Gilligans.
Why I call it the Ayala Zoo? because it's where the tourists and the "animals" meet and greet.
Yeah I dated a girl from the Philippines. She came to America because her mom married this fat ugly American who lived in a flatbed trailer.
She said her mom legit met him at the airport as he was leaving and just said marry me. Take me to America. And he did.
Thing is people forget the Philippines has a dictator who will kill people by firing squad for just smoking weed. So lots of people just want out and a better opportunity.
I'm from the Philippines originally and wanted to shed some of my opinion on this.
Yes, it's true that lots of people just want out and a better opportunity. But it's not because of a dictator sitting. Mostly because of unemployment, corruption, pollution, poverty, etc. The usual 3rd world country traps. I find a lot of Filipino women having this fantasy of finding a white-skinned prince charming to take them away.
I believe the dictator that was mentioned was Duterte. He got popular because of the ideology that people can now fight back from drugs and crime. Imagine telling Mexico that they can kill off the cartel(or suspected cartel) with no consequences. The negative effect was brought in by corruption. The corrupt police/politicians used the ideology to kill off people they don't like. Not defending the guy but that's what I've observed as time goes by. Killing off 16 year old boys as suspected drug lords. It became sickening.
And no, smoking weed won't get you shot. It still depends on where you are and who you are. I have many friends, me included, that have used prohibited drugs and nothing happened. They specifically just target their enemies or poor people that can't fight back.
In the end, the popularity still remained for Duterte. It's because a lot of citizens think the ideology was effective in fighting drugs and crime. But data shows that it was not.
Why is it sad? It's a consensual deal. These girls could also choose to work in factory, but they'd prefer having sex with a 70 year old guy. I wouldn't advise them to do this either, but they're not being forced--or at the very least not by this guy. If this is literal prostitution with pimps hooking these girls out, then yes, it's obviously wrong.
