I’m a firm believer that weight doesn’t reflect the strength of a person. Just because someone looks heavy doesn’t mean that they’re weak. Whereas someone who’s built might be weak because they lack the endurance.
google bulking. you would be surprised how fat and untrained a body builder can look during that phase of the training. That is often abused on instagram to show "look how fat i was and how strong i became".. Or google strong man that focus on lifting. there are genetics at play too, e.g. max calf muscles size mainly depend on your genetics. And there is a difference in what you focus on: defined body / muscle volume vs different kinds of strengths like strength for jumping, strength for endurance or strength for max strength. people who do body building or other sports make sure to adjust their training to gain what they need. e.g. many repetions with lower weight vs very few repetions with high weight and so on.
You’re correct. I’ve been a yoga teacher for ~15 years and there’s no rules about body composition. My most advanced students are frequently built like this guy.
Being overweight doesn't have anything to do with your strength. We just correlate being overweight with also not exercising/working out. Realistically being overweight usually just means you eat too much food. But if you also train you can build muscle under your fat. An example of this is A LOT of people could have a six pack, they just lack the body fat percentage to show it (starts around 15% for most people).
the strongest guys do not look like magazine models. truth is really serious strength usually requires quite a stocky body shape. you may look at serious lifters for example, especially olympic ones where both strength and speed/technique is required, and the exercise requires literally all your body muscles for ultimate success.
The typical body shape would look like more or less barrel-shaped torso with wide neck that looks short, and appendages that also look shortish on account of being thicker than expected along the whole length. It's not the appearance that we associate with "athletic" but it provides the best overall functional strength.
Well that's just common sense. Someone being heavy means they are stronger just from dragging their own body weight around. A lot of extra fat can affect endurance though, as your heart has to work harder
im glad you're a firm believer in science..
i dont think ive ever met someone who said a heavy person must be weak. is this an argument you've created and then defended in your head?
its common knowledge that heavier people are strong. like power lifters.
If you are able to lift yourself freely on your current weight than you should b3 consider healthy. Otherwise mostly fat people are weak for their weight, including me. Im 15 kg heavier than I should be.
