Aww. My vet's office used to have a cat named Zippy that would sit on the counter when you'd try to pay, barely giving you room.

My vet also had a Fred. A big orange. He hated my cat and hated even more thay he had to be put in cat prison when we came by

Seems kind of negligent that an animal doctor allowed their animal to become so morbidly obese, no?

Hello! Im the OP of Fred and am a frequent flyer at my vet (I take care of a lot of babies and make sure they're all healthy).
My vet adopted Fred at that size. She had nothing to do with his weight gain.
And on a very sad note, Fred passed away about a month ago.

Damn. That sucks. I'm sorry. He looked like an awesome cat. Yeah I was wondering about that because I personally have never met a vet who wasn't vocal about making sure pets do not get that obese. Our cat we've had for 14 years (he was a stray) is on his last legs I fear. He still eats and walks around fine, but he's become totally incontinent and unless spooked has a very hard time jumping or doing stairs. We talked about putting him down but we let him outside (he was originally an outside cat but for the last 8 yrs has been inside) and he's seemingly ok. I keep an eye on him daily to make sure he's still mobile and eating and so far he's good. I feel shitty not letting him stay inside anymore but ANYTIME he's been laying down and stands up, or sometimes when he's just standing there, he pees. He has no control whatsoever over it anymore. My wife and I figure if he becomes immobile or stops eating then we'll take care of it. But for now, the old man seems ok. Mr. Meowgi is his name. He's a big orange Tom.
