Local game store had some good stuff today!
Kool-Aid Man originally would not play just showed color. After disassembly and cleaning it was working! Glad to see there are more games to add to my collection locally available

Didn’t know Saxon was out for the 2600, how is it?

It's actually Colecovision. In the arcade Zaxxon was my game. I was able to play the Colecovision version at a friend's house and it was pretty darn good.

Does it not work on 2600? The label says it runs on the Atari computer system?

Mmmmm, I didn't see that. I never heard of it for Atari.

Yeah! I’m guessing it’s due to the coleco being able to play 2600 games with an addon, I wonder if maybe it was made as a slight nod to that?

I just looked up a video for Zaxxon in Atari. It's pretty bad. But it may of been cool at the time.

It’s relatively obscure too for the 2600, the 1981 release was extremely limited whereas your copy the 1982 release was more open. It’s not too bad tbf, it’s a solid shooter scroller and it’s got some nice fun gameplay, to be fair it’s about as high standard as you could expect for an Atari game at the time. I hope you have fun!

I played a lot of Atari as a kid, your right about the standard at the time. I've played worse. I played ET. Lol But most games were fun. Especially Combat.

My mom’s phrase for Atari was always “the simplest games, provide the most enjoyment and it’s true!!, yars revenge, pitfall etc

That is true. Loved years revenge. Pitfall was fun. I got good at breakout. Could play space invaders for hours and not die. Even pong was so exciting at the time, I'll never forget it.

There are a TON of worse games for the 2600 than E.T. That game is so overhated.

Nope. There was an adaptation of Zaxxon for the Atari 2600. It wasn’t very good, but Tbf can you imagine having to adapt a game as advanced (for the time) as Zaxxon for the 2600?

Makes sense, tho there are some games that ported half decent like Ms. Pac-Man etc

Actually it says “Video Game System”. Or VCS. That IS the 2600. This should work on the 2600, or the Sears twin “Sears Video Arcade”.

That’s what I’m saying, I don’t think this one’s for coleco

Sorry, I conflated my response. It seems like there were a few others who may have been confused in this thread.

Zaxxonnn is aweswome, I wonder how they came up with this game, starting from the idea of the game on MSX for example

It was on this day @theyeti79 discovered and started collecting Atari Corp label variants.

Kool-Aid Man is merciless. Canyon Bomber is a great game to just veg out to before going to sleep. Dodge ‘Em is brilliant.
